OUR PATENTED TECHNOLOGY

Universal has developed patented technology that represents a significant advancement for effective, low cost, remote monitoring (tele-monitoring & wireless) of a wide variety of patients who have both chronic and non-chronic disease.

Remote Auscultation Tele-Monitoring
Hands-Free Operation

Universal is the only company to offer its patented, hands-free auscultation technology as either a stand-along monitor system, an upgrade to an existing system, or a plug in-module. Our technology is completely portable and can be used on a wide variety of existing monitors, wireless equipment, and tele-medicine systems.

For the first time a physician can perform a hands-free auscultation assessment of a patient in an effective and cost effective manner from a remote location. Everything a physician can do in the office with a stethoscope can now be done using our system with the patient being in a remote location. The system uses advanced electronics to capture, amplify, and transmit bio-acoustic signals from remote patients who have a wide variety of disease states including:

Cardiac Disease: Valvular disease, murmurs, regurgitation, Prolapse, Stenosis, CHF
Pulmonary Disease: Asthma, Emphysema, Bronchitis, Lung cancer, COPD
Digestive Tract: Bowel blockages, bowel aneurisms
Peripheral Vascular: Carotid Stenosis, Bruits, vascular aneurisms

Unique BioAcoustic Sensors

Our patented BioPad™ 100 BioAcoustic sensors offer advanced acoustic and dynamic response characteristics along with both active and passive ambient noise cancellation.  Our sensors are light weight, easy to use, compliant to the body, and reusable. Our sensors offer all the benefits of traditional Bell and Diaphragm stethoscopes, as well as Electronic Stethoscopes, plus additional features and benefits. These additional benefits include peel-and-stick application that allows for hands free auscultation.

Windows™ Based Software
Visual Acoustic Charts

Universal’s software (Windows™ compatible) allows healthcare providers to easily store, retrieve, assess, display, and review both acoustic auscultation signals as well as synchronized, multi-lead EKG signals (from the same patient). Patient files can be easily managed, archived, and compared to prior auscultation assessments in a measurable and objective manner. Physicians can create and view graphic representations of bio-acoustic sounds (see figure 1) that facilitate clinical assessment of disease states.

Advanced Electronics Ambient Noise Cancellation

Universal has developed patented state-of-the-art electronics that employ both active and passive ambient noise cancellation for remote patient auscultation. This ensures that unwanted background noises, unwanted body noises, and other ambient noise is minimized to ensure that targeted heart and lung sounds (patient auscultation) are clear, accurate, and undistorted.

Our integrated system offers a turnkey solution for both the healthcare provider and patient. Our simple to use home monitor allows patients to conveniently affix our BioPad sensors, capture quality signals, and send the signals over the Internet or telephone line.
